Babies Go Gaga for Baby Einstein’s 20th Anniversary!

As a parent, you’ve likely felt that feeling by now. That, “I turned around and my baby grew up faster than I ever imagined” feeling. We’re having that feeling on a broad scale this year, as we celebrate our friendship with the amazing Baby Einstein brand as they celebrate their 20th Anniversary. Or, call it a Birthday. Whatever it is, it’s a celebration of 20 years of bringing amazing, quality products to the homes of fun-loving, nurturing families far and wide. We’ve worked with Baby Einstein now for over ten years, producing books to engage and delight little ones as they explore the world around them for the very first time.

For a baby, every moment of every day is an opportunity for discovery, whether it’s finding her toes or seeing his reflection in a mirror. To encourage a natural love of learning, Baby Einstein was created by a mom to share the beauty of the arts with her baby. Similarly, the editors here at Sandvik Publishing are dedicated to helping parents make reading a part of every child’s life at an early age. We thought, what better time to remind you why we love these books so very much for the littlest of readers (and their parents).
There are so many ways to incorporate reading into your baby’s day, and so many ways reading together will enrich both of your lives:

  1. An established routine = A happy baby

As your child grows, routine will be central to helping him or her feel calm, relaxed and happy in daily activities. We all know bedtime is a popular time to read together, but consistently reading books together may help your child to transition more easily between daytime activities as well.  Perhaps you could read a story together after nap time, to help your child ease back into activities; or bring along a favorite book to enjoy with your little one in a waiting room while doing errands or visiting the doctor. These books are lightweight but sturdy, perfect to tuck into the diaper bag. If you make reading together a calm, soothing experience, your routine can come with you on-the-go!

  2. Interaction is key.

One of the primary benefits of reading with your children is simple – it’s time spent together. Books are the perfect tool for fueling healthy interactions that deepen the bond between baby and caregiver, all while having fun. Baby Einstein Playful Discoveries titles are particularly fun to read together, as each book offers a little something different to interact with and explore. Some books are written to highlight sound effects that a parent can make to elicit a response from baby;IMG_8823

Some books feature a lift-the-flap element to encourage interaction;IMG_8822

And some books ask questions that with time, a child will learn to answer on their own.IMG_8819

The back cover of each book includes ideas for activities to do with your baby related to the book’s theme. The key here is to take the time to enjoy them together!

  3. Books matter.

Whether your child is pulling them from the shelf, chewing on them like a snack, tossing them from the highchair over and over, or sitting patiently while you read to them, just having books in your home is key to modeling for your child that reading and learning are important in your family. These books, with their distinct white covers and distinct artwork, combining real-life photos with well-loved character artwork, will jump off the family bookshelf when your little one is given the chance to choose a book at playtime or story time.  And we can’t forget the Playful Discoveries Cards! These may just be the most versatile tool in your parenting toolbox. A new pack of cards comes with each set of Playful Discoveries books, and they can be added to the teething ring to serve as a perfect distraction during diaper changes, in line at the grocery store or stuck in traffic. Take them off the ring to play memory or matching games, or use them as flash cards to support your baby in learning new words. We’d love to hear your real parent tips for using these cards and books together!  playful cards

Books have the power to benefit babies and toddlers in a myriad of ways. As a parent, reading to your child is one of the most important things you can do to prepare him with a foundation for academic excellence. We’re proud to partner with Baby Einstein to keep bringing your adorable content to enrich the little moments that mean so much to you and your baby.
